In the late 19th century, the Santa Trinita Bridge was once again reconstructed, this time with the use the original stone because the night between 3-4 August 1944, the bridge was destroyed by the German soldiers during the IIWW. The new bridge was designed by the architect following the original project made by Ammannati, and was completed in 1958. The bridge was now even wider, with a central span that measured 120 meters.
